- Controls Marine Protected Areas (MPAs): Licenses bind fishers to rules that completely ban or restrict fishing in critical “no-take” zones.
- Regulates Fishing Gear: Permitted fishers are restricted to sustainable methods, like a single rod, reel, and line.
- Bans Destructive Tools: Prohibits the use of scuba gear, gaffs, or clubs for catching fish.
Fishing Licence and the Law
A fishing license is mandatory by law.

1) No fishing permit, sadly no boarding.
2) Fishing permit not valid on a phone. It must be clearly printed.
3) No fake names on a permit as the inspector may request your ID or passport.
4) You permit must state Fishing or if your are diving as well then both.
5) The Owner/Skipper is not responsible for your fine if your permit is not in order.
6) Your permit must be brought on board (DAFF law)
Please remember, the fish you catch is yours to take home and roadblocks are likely. So have your permit with you all the time.
